About Michael
KYP Licensed Therapist
Michael has always been drawn to the mystery of personhood and the pursuit of it. It’s no surprise that he ended up as a licensed therapist with two degrees in Human Development. As a Marriage and Family therapist, he understands that maturing in personhood requires an understanding of one’s own self in the context of human relationship systems – especially those that are most influential like family of origin, marriage/partnership, and vocational systems.
Michael’s goal is to offer clients a sincere, secure, therapeutic relationship free of judgment, rooted in curiosity and neutrality. It’s here that people can gain knowledge of self and improve their functioning in all relationships. His framework, Bowen Family Systems, can treat a wide variety of issues and clients, as it is based in natural science observations of human adaptation and maladaptation to stress. Michael is available for individual and relationship coaching for issues such as: managing stress, lowering anxiety, cultivating a stronger sense of self, understanding and navigating dynamics in relationship systems, “stickiness” in decision-making, etc.
Other Interests
Michael found his vocational calling to therapy with help of the Know You Project, but has enjoyed a broad range of vocational experiences including landscaping, video production, and marketing. In his free time, Michael will be trying to give his best to his parish, his family, and his homestead in West Alabama.
